I've used 20-50, all year in everything I own for over 20 years. Cars, Trucks, Boats, Tractors and all the yard equipment. Some may think 5wt gets up out of the pan faster in the cold. I subscribe to the thought that 20wt doesn't fall off to the pan. Course below zero I don't like to even start stuff. Glad I don't live too far north anymore! Rod,,,startin the 350 chevy boat motor with 20-50 just fine while deer huntin middle of December, low of 26 degrees.

Mobil one make motorcycle spec 10w/40 oil. I have been using that for a couple of years in all my other bikes. as soon as my 05 KLR is broken in I am switching to Mobil 1 10w/40. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Right! I also subscribe to the thought that synthetic sticks to the parts much much better than typical dino oil. I've been into motors with both and I can see and feel it sticking to parts and staying there much better. I'm getting ready for an oil change soon and after using Amsoil 20-50 for 2 years I'm going to try switching to Amsoil 10-40 to see if I can pick up some more horsepower to the rear wheel and get my mpg up a little higher (over 50) on Ca. cat piss fuel. I mainly got the gumption to do so because of an extensive test online that I read that showed while putting more and more miles on Amsoils product, although the lab results kept showing it was doing great, it was also showing that the oil's viscosity was going up and up and up with more use. That may very well be why I can feel a big difference in shifting on the KLR when I get more than 7-8000 miles on the oil. It just seems to get tougher to shift from 1st to 2nd, and 4th to 5th without missing it more and more. With a fresh oil change it all but goes away. MrMoose A8 (Barbie and Ken special)

I just put that in my A19 with about 1100 miles on it. What do you consider broken in? Curios as to opinions on if I jumped the gun as to changing over to synthetic too soon? TH SLC, UT A19 --- Magikmann wrote:
