Harley is IN the discussion, then: http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/4/9/78858649.htm http://www.realclassic.co.uk/snarley.html http://community.webshots.com/photo/168431938/168432102PxgpBt http://www.mathewscollection.com/motorcycles/Motorcycle_HD_MT500.htm They may not want to admit it, but they slapped a Rotax engine into a bike and sold it to the British Army as a military grade Off-Roader with lights and signals. The manager at St Paul HD had one in the showroom and couldn't get rid of it. I was there doing some work on the computers, he saw my KLR and offered me "A deal of a lifetime", something like 8,000 or 9,000 dollars for it... Dirk

I stopped in to look at that very bike, but at the time, they were asking 14k for it. It looked like a reasonable proposition at around $4,000.00.

Kyle, sorry just saw your post and appreciate your perspective. Maybe I can clarify a couple of things I have no objection to "classifying" in the sense of having bike specific lists, discussion, humor, etc. That's much needed and useful for everyone. What I was commenting on was starting a conversation (as many do, not just reddog) with a comment lumping a bunch of people into a group based on the bike they ride so that they can go on to make negative and not necessarily accurate jabs at them. People do this to KLR riders all the time and it often quickly goes past funny to ignorant and stupid. And, yes, I have heard many male KLR riders complain about having this done to them. That's not to say everyone does but, yes, many do object, and quite vocally! Regarding the patient comment, I guess I was not clear. I simply meant they were patient with helping me learn to ride in the dirt. I did NOT mean they had to be patient (read "slow") while doing their own riding. These guys ride dirt at speed and ride all kinds of very knarly stuff on their GSs (mud, water, ruts, baby head rocks, etc. etc.) And, yes, these guys are having a barrel of fun and not particularly worried about proving something. Believe me no unskilled amateur is going to putt past one of these guys on the dirt. In fact, the concept of an unskilled amateur putting past a "skilled" GS rider is simply foreign to me....at that point you are not talking about a truly "skilled" GS rider. KLR riders post pics of their bikes lying on their sides in the dirt all the time. Why is that having fun but a GS rider in the same position must not be having fun? I think it really depends on the particular situation and cannot be assumed from the kind of bike. That's the only point I was trying to make. I don't give a rat's ass about being politically correct nor do I care to waste my time trying to appease anyone. But I do care about accuracy and fairness and that was not being exhibited. I would have been happy to generate some interesting conversation in which we all shared whatever divergent opinions we might have. Being emailed off list and told to go fuck myself .... well I expected better from a KLR rider!!! (LOL) Susan --- Kyle wrote:

Yeah, I'm not too impressed with him either. Annoying to say the least. -----Original Message----- From: John Kokola [mailto:jck22903@...] Sent: Saturday, April 30, 2005 11:18 AM To: coopvilleasa; DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Subject: RE: [DSN_KLR650] WTB - Clearview +9 The guy who posts twice daily about what he's selling has a windshield for sale.
