Yeah, I know it's an ugly word. However, since I love and won't get rid of my KLR and
I haven't ridden anything else, would someone help me with what to expect on a
naked '82 Goldwing that has only 8000 miles? I'm looking seriously to buy it at a
great price but would like to know what to expect. Ride, repairs, gas milage, etc.
Can anyone offer any help, please?
Thanks!

I owned an 82 G/W Interstate. I paid $5,000 out the door from San Jose
Honda. I put a sidecar on it and rode it that way for over 10 years.
The clutch had to be replaced at about 80,000 miles and a water pump.
Did the work myself. That's about all the problems I ever had with it.
Gas mileage was around 39 MPH.

Not an ugly word by me. I had an 84 Interstate that never missed a lick
and got 50 mpg each and every tank. In some ways, it was a better bike
than the 1500 I had.
Starting with the 1200 and through the 1500, Wings seemed to have some
sort of failure in the charging system. I'm not aware of anything like
this on the 1100. But with only 8k, I'd inspect it very carefully for
gasket and o-ring seepage. A Wing is at least the equal of any bike in
reliability (notice my diplomacy), but once things go, it's usually pricey
