Interesting. One thing that visitors to the UK often find unnerving is that is lawful for motorcyclists to drive between lanes of traffic waiting for a light. Indeed, it is perceived as a major advantage of driving a motorcycle, being able to get to the front of the line. Traffic in the UK, particularly in the South Easst around London, is horrendous. Same thing here in California. Few people commute by motorcycle, however, because unlike the UK, California gives out driver's licenses to pretty much anybody with a pulse and room temperature IQ, no skills required, meaning that the highways are pretty dangerous for motorcyclists during rush hour. I imagine that $2.75/gallon gasoline is going to change that, though, since it makes no sense to drive a 15mpg SUV 20 miles to work rather than a 50mpg KLR once gas gets that expensive... -E

If anyone has the address for this misguided young woman please send it to me so I may talk to her about motorcycle safety. ;) Alan Henderson A13 Iowa
