I have headlight modulators on both my bikes and have had no problems either. ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________> I have 23K miles on mine with no issues.

headlight modulator (was my top 5 modifications)
Thanks to those who replied.
Since many bike accidents are caused by cars not seeing approaching bikers
and pulling out in front of them, the modulator seems like a no-brainer.
Didn't consider the legal angle though. Have to check with the Australian
powers-that-be before plonking down the dinero.
Regards,
Maurice

Thor,
I just realized as I reread your post that you don't recommend the Kisan
headlight modulator due to the premature arcing experience you had. Is there
another brand of modulator you recommend? Would appreciate a reference to a
website, if possible.
Thanks, and regards,
Maurice

It makes the headlight assembly longer and that lets the cord get some leverage on the connectors and shake them loose. Over time, that can cause arcing, which destroys the $100 headlight modulator... not good. It'd probably work well on a bike with less vibration at the front end but the one I tried on my KLR lasted about 1.5 months. I keep meaning to pick up a wire-in style modulator. It would be a good excuse to rerun the headlight wires with larger wire anyway, which is a good idea for those of us running brighter than stock bulbs. Thor

Kisan also makes a wire-in style modulator. Someone also recommended the DiamondStar product to me but I have no experience with it. I am starting to think that maybe my push-on Kisan was just badly made or something; others here haven't reported the problem with it shaking loose and arcing that I had. *Shrug*. mermite project
Well, I've just taken the plunge and purchased a second mermite can.
I am pulling my hair out searching for racks that don't cost $200. Am
I searching in vain here?
