That seems like reasonable behavior. Thanks, Mike A18

doohickey and waterpump seal replacement.

Post by lskbike » Sun Mar 27, 2005 6:42 pm

FYI...I just installed a new water pump oil seal and mechanical seal. After doing that I switched sides and replaced the "doohickey". The bike is an 02 KLR 650 with only 1,600 miles on it. The prior owner let it sit more than riding it. I suppose that is why the original mechanical water pump seal began leaking. Doohickey report: The stock doohickey and spring were in excellent shape, but as others have said before, the stock doohickey sure is "cheap"! I am glad I replaced it with one of Eagle Mike's upgraded units. I just feel better knowing it is there. Thanks Mike! Thanks also to Mark's great instructions on both of these projects. I was surprised how easy the jobs were. I think anyone with average or better mechanical skills could do these jobs! Just read Mark's instructions carefully a couple of times. Move very cautiously and deliberately...read each step as you do it. Larry K. Southeastern Indiana
