My new hydro pack gives the water such a strong plastic taste that it is undrinkable. What's the best way to remove the plastic taste? It has been rinsed out many times and left to soak with water in but still too plastic. Thanks, Norm

there is a weird shape coat hanger that you put inside the bladder that opens it up and lets it dry out...I believe it is avail from nashbar.com or larger mtn bike shops. opening it up with the yellow hanger dissipates the plastic smell and dries it out so no bacteria grows j

I once hurriedly filled my already plastic tasting camel back from a garden hose without running the water first, which made it taste like it came out of a plastic refinery. Not a good thing to do before pedaling a mountain bike up a 45 minute climb in the Summer sun. Fortunately a bee stung me part way up so I had a distraction from the bad taste. Mike A18

And if vinegar or baking soda don;t do the job, 2 Tblsps of laundry bleach in a water filled pouch will - leave it for at least a couple hours before draining and rinse 2x. Repeat as needed. I would recommend NOT using bleach -- unless you prefer the taste of bleach to the taste of plastic. I've found the bleach taste is even harder to get rid of once it's in there. The lemon juice and baking soda should do the trick, but if not, I've also used a tiny bit of Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap for washing out an older bag that got a little funky. After rinsing very, very well to be sure I was rid of all the soap, I still had a nice bit of minty flavor... =) BE SF, A9 --- anti-js wrote:

I HIGHLY recommend a 100ppm bleach rinse with these bottles.
