spare rear wheel

Post by Kelly Cash » Mon Feb 21, 2005 4:22 pm

Hi all, I've been wanting to buy a second rear wheel for my '99 KLR 650. The intent was to keep street rubber on one, and dual-sport rubber on the other, swapping them as my needs dictated. I went on EBay, found a rim (with sprocket & brake). Asked the owner if it'd work on my '99. Never heard. Bought it anyway. Turns out it's for an earlier KLR 600, and has a drum brake. (the pic on EBay showed the sprocket side- "let the buyer beware" I guess) So, I have a couple choices: 1. Sell it to someone who wants a drum brake rim. (anyone want one? Cheap? I paid $115 USD for it) 2. Find the appropriate hub and have it relaced into the rim. (are the spokes the same, or would I have to get a new set?) Other ideas? Please send email directly to me as well as the list. (there's so much email on the list that I don't generally see it all) Thanks! -K ================================================================ Kelly Cash Email: kelly@... Hate to say it but $115 isn't cheep. I got both front and rear for my 600 (rear had everything need to mount it) for about $100 (for the both). There are (or was) a few KLR600 wheels on ebay now cheapest is $12 highest is buy it now $75 Swapping hub I don't know. I was wondering the same thing, looking to get a KLX front end an was wondering if I could use my rim and tire just swapping out the hub. -----Original Message----- From: Kelly Cash [mailto:kelly@...] Sent: Monday, February 21, 2005 5:24 PM To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Spare rear wheel Hi all, I've been wanting to buy a second rear wheel for my '99 KLR 650. klr650 seat on a 600

Any one know if I could make a 650 seat fit on a 600? I'd like to try and get an aftermarket seat but there are none for the 600. Modifications are not a big issue. Fairly goof with fiberglass / metal work. It would be nice if I could just drop it in. :)

AH, by the correct hub and spoke kit? TO expensive. I'd sell it to the bidder ya beat prior to reposting it.
