---- -- ----Hi Steve, I can give you a brief report on the GP-110. I put them on 2 weeks ago and have ridden about 200 miles. The only other tire I have to compare them to are the K761's that came on my bike. I mostly ride on gravel and hard dirt roads they do great on it I can go thru corners with a lot more speed and confidence, they get slick pretty fast in mud but compared to those 761's there great. I'm going a little easy on the blacktop till I get used to the way they handle The kendas were great on twisty roads but I dont mind trading off a little road preformance for some more grip in the dirt. --- --- Good luck Dennis/ Greenville TX

Anyone have any experience with the MEF 99 tires? http://www.klr650.com/MEFO%20Sport%20Tires.htm

Beware of the Kenda 270s. I rode three sets down to fibers with no problems. The fourth set threw knobs within the first 350 miles. Of course, I was at the beginning of what was to be a 5,000 mile trip. I had to do some frantic tire searching in a place where no one stocked that size tire. To add insult to injury, the exact same thing happened to my riding partner on the very next trip at the very same place. That trip got scrapped all together. I won't relay on any more Kenda 270s.

The C858 rear works really well, but I burned through 'em too quickly, so I switched to the K270. I was a Kenda evangelist for many years until I switched to Dunlops last spring. I wanted a more aggressive tire with a stiffer carcass that could be punished over a long haul. I'll still grab a K270 for 'normal' use. I once ran a set of slightly more expensive IRC GP-1s, of which the K270 are a knockoff. I found the build quality to be a bit better and there was less sidewall flex However, the same size tire was narrower and the knobs were noticeably smaller in all dimensions; thus, the tire wore faster. I got about 80% of the mileage that I get from a K270. All of the above tires are good choices, and are even better when you factor in the price compared to the boutique treads out there. Mark

Not much gap between the lugs to swallow up the big stuff and minimize deflection. Looks like it does about as good as the stock tires which ain't sayin much, so they say. Nice tread for a little dirt road and mostly street ridin. Rod,,,,,,,,my opinion from lookin at the photo --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "baltopilas" wrote:

Also, unless they last for ,8000+ miles, I'd say they're about $50 overpriced for a set. Mark At 4:18 PM +0000 1/17/05, Rodney Copeland wrote:

This sort of answers my question about tire impressions under different conditions pretty well: http://www.techstan.com/private/xr600/database/tire/tire.htm

Interesting and I'm sure alot of work went into the comprehensive graphs, but some of it doesn't seem accurate, or it may just be me. There's a point where the more radical the pattern, the better it does in any soft stuff worse on the street. The graphs don't seem to reflect that. Rod, thanks for the link though, pretty cool --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Michael Silverstein" wrote:
