All right, time for my yearly rant!! Reviewing the list of motorcycle racers for the 2005 Paris/Dakar race, I find not a single KLR650 or even a single Kawasaki! Come on guys, KTM isn't that much better.

Yes they are. As a race bike, KTM's are simply FAR, FAR better than anything Kawi has to offer. A KLR only becomes equal or better when you do dualsporting, have to maintain the bike at your own expense, or want accessories or comfort. Devon

I shouldn't worry about who's running and who isn't. I'm more worried about if we will get to the race. Speed is no longer going to cover it, and the OLN channel is only putting out programmes well after the race is over. Pretty pathetic coverage for the hardest race on the face of the planet in my opinion. Dave Oregon

And is it this year or next that they are dropping the twin cylinder class? I'd read that they had announced their intention to limit the motorcycles to a 650 and 450 class. Now if Kawasaki was to build a second generation KLR designed to do Dakar ... Pat G'ville, Nv [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Twin-cylinder bikes are limited to 450cc, I don't think there is a size limit on thumpers as I see a bunch of the 660 Rallye KTMs, and one bike that is listed as being a 680. Greg Roberts --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus]

Kawasaki is coming out with a 450 for the 2006 model year. They will be using it in an MX bike and quad. Don't know about a dualsported version though. Tom, With any "Always on" connections, there's several things that should be running. A good anti-virus program, with regular updates, which it sounds like you already have. A Personal firewall, Zonealarm is a good free version, and a "Spyware" finder run regularly or in the background. There are several good programs of each type out there. The firewall prevents unauthorized activity in or out of your computer. The Spyware tools find and remove spying software that is installed with other programs or by visiting web sites operated by shady programmers. The following are some of my favorites: ZoneAlarm Free version, (Personal Firewall): http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/trial_zaFamily/trial _zaFamily.jsp;jsessionid=BCDlSF0ycCmKdg192bSU5O1VBNzSJjO4ocq9cS3TdD46B2s2x2l Y!-1183017509!-1062696904!7551!7552!660720983!-1062696903!7551!7552?lid=zass skulist_trial> Adaware Personal Edition, (Spyware Finder/Remover): http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ Webroot Spy Sweeper, (Spyware Finder/Remover): http://webroot.com/products/ Greg McKinney '95 A9 -----Original Message----- From: Tom Komjathy [mailto:dskinc@...] Sent: Thursday, December 16, 2004 6:20 PM To: KLR Group Subject: [DSN_klr650] Spyware Since we've switched to DSL, we have been getting information, form the web, stating our computer has a spy virus. Ran virus detection, with no viruses found. Is spying something we need to be aware of with DSL. If it is, what can we do to help protect us from such activity?
