removing cap over pilot mixture screw

Post by Randy Shultz » Sun Dec 05, 2004 9:54 am

Having not done any carb work on my A18 yet, is it necessary to completely remove the carb in order to drill out the cap over the pilot mixture screw? I checked the FAQ and did a search on the list but didn't find anything.

removing cap over pilot mixture screw

no. removing is not required. but wouldn't hurt either. For my car I rerouted wiring harness out of motor mount. and my choke cable is 6" long . rotateing the carb is much easier. take your chcke loose at the handlebars. take throtthle cable bracket off at the carb. One phillips screw there holding the throttle cable bracket to carb. loosen the screw on the boots to and from carb. Carefully, rotate it. All easy carb work is done from the right side of this bike(and many others) drill ya small hole into the plug. Make dang sure you drill the aliminium plug that is sitting at the end of the tube. If the plug you see looks like a copper/bronze one recessed up past the bowl/plane. don't drill it. Somebody posted to the list they did not drill the right plug. The plug may come out when you drill it. A screw threaded into this new hole can help pull it out. or flat bladed screw drive of small(hole) size. Just don't punch the jet head with the drill or plug removing tool. Or you can buy my carb that is for sale... --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "Randy Shultz" wrote:
