front brake rotor ?

Post by J.Crooz » Thu Nov 18, 2004 5:56 pm

Bent my front rotor on my 2005 KLR this weekend during a head-on crach with an Isusu Rodeo. A new replacement from Kawasaki is like $240. I noticed on the Kawasaki parts look-up that the 2003 Concours front brake rotors (at least the left one) has the same Kawasaki part number. Does anyone know for sure if this will interchange? IF not the Concours, will any other Kaw model's rotor interchange? This will help in my hunt for a used one. Thanks to all...

I'm pretty sure it's EBC that sells a stock replacement for $100 or so. All the best, Mike Eagle Mfg & Eng San Diego, Ca. since 1990

Ed, It may or may not break if you do that. There have been broken springs (which the procedure cannot protect), and broken balancer levers that have never been adjusted. So, the biggest thing using the straight up and down (or leaning to the right) procedure does is help prevent the part from being skewed on the shaft, prior to tightening. If/when you ever take yours apart and look, you will understand more about this. The stock lever MAY breal if re-tightened while skewed, or it will stay skewed, and the starter ring gear may hit it. I've seen both conditions. Over-tightening does not help, and many are over tightened from the factory. All the best, Mike Eagle Mfg & Eng San Diego, Ca.

I have a set of Concours rotors off my old '90 model. I could be talked out of them for a lot less than the new price. Randy in AR [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
