street or motocross helmet for riding in rain (fogging)????? -
Looks like you need an Arai Tour-X. Unfortunately is only available in
Europe. Check out http://www.araihelmet-europe.com/new_site/index.html
If you're checking out the Bravo show "Long Way Around." It's what they
are wearing.
I would like to get a good look at one. It seems funny, but the Arai
Europe site makes the Arai US site look like kindergarten work.

My Arai RX7RR4 get real foggy when it rains. I use anti fog and fog
city shield, and a breath deflector, which helps, but I still cant
see. If I flip up the visor I can see but my glasses get wet and
thats not good either
would a Motocross type helmet with a seperate pair of goggles stop
the fogging?

Hey squasher. It sounds like you have covered the basics using similar
solutions that I and many riders use w/ full face helmets.
I use an MX helmet for most of my riding with a Full-face helmet shield
retained by a goggle strap
see recent photo - Note - the shield can be moved down a bit more to
further reduce venting, but it will not seal up tight w/o my foam wedges
mounted on the lower corners, which I rarely do.
http://lasvegasrider.smugmug.com/photos/10053696-L.jpg
- works great until it get real wet and cold, then it gets a bit chilly,
given the venting involved. If you just use goggles the rain will work
its
way into the interior of the helmet, and it can get a bit soggy and
uncomfortable in quick order.
On my modular I have a little trick to get some additional (controlled)
shield venting. The solution I use is mount a thin strip made of a few
sections of scotch brite material , 1/4" wide, that run along the lower
perimeter of the shield. Without it or something like it the mist from
driving in the rain gets inside the helmet. With it the mist condenses
in
the material of the scotch bright strip and drains away at the outer
ends.
These solutions may work, or something similar may work, for your
situation.
Good luck!

I have a TourCross, got it mailed to me from the English Connection (My
Dad).
Kinda like the French Connection, but without the heroin and gunplay.
As far as i can tell, it is the same as the XD, but it is not stamped Snell
or DOT, it has some English equivalent certification on the back of it.
I like it, have worn it on several long trips and offroad jaunts, just like
all Arai products it was a bit spendy but excellent quality. I can't speak
for the fogging properties, we don't get a whole lot of rain out this way...
The few times i have worn it in the rain I reckon it's been no better or
worse than any other helmet.
Well, maybe a bit better. The chin bar sits further away from my face than
most street helmets, I guess that may aid in venting?
Thanks
CA Stu

I stand corrected. I checked the Arai site and missed it. Talked to a
guy that used to work at a stealership and me mentioned Arai doesn't
sell all their helmet designs in the US. So I just figured that was one
of the styles.
Now I have to go price it.
