ht engine guard/footpegs install problem - solved!!!

Post by KLR94131 » Mon Sep 06, 2004 6:35 pm

Hey Guys, I'm the original poster of this question and want to say that I solved the problem after some valuable input from a few other listers as well as the on-site help and assistance of a fellow rider (John). As I posted in my original message, I in no way was making any negative comments regarding Tim and Happy Trails products or service. I was trying to do my install of this newly acquired part on Saturday during the Labor Day weekend, and since HT was not open, I posted to the group for advice and insight as to whether others had had similar problems with mounting the engine guard/footpegs and if so, how they handled it. If it had been during a business day, I certainly would have called him, described the problem I was having and have asked for his advice about the situation. I'm sure, based on coments of other users and my own experience with the KLR vendors that we all deal with, a positive result would have ensued. As it happened, I decided to go ahead and drill out the bolt holes with an 1/2-inch bit which then gave me sufficient space to line up the holes and the bolts slid right thru. I'd like to thank all my fellow KLR riders for their responses both on the list and those that were emailed directly to me. tire wrenches

Post by vospertw@hotmail.com » Fri Sep 10, 2004 1:45 am

I thought I saw this a week or so ago but couldn't find it in my stack of saved KLR emails. What size wrenches/sockets should I throw in my tool kit for changing tires on the road? I realize this seems like a lazy question, but I don't have access to my bike at the moment. Thanks. Todd A14
