nklr - camping joke

Post by West Hovland » Tue Aug 24, 2004 10:21 pm

We just had our first Oregon case of West Nile here. Killed a crow and 2 horses. I'm never camping again! I'll sell the KLR, get a motorhome and only staying in WalMart parking lots from now on. ;^) West Freaked out in Oregon.

nklr - camping joke

it's a shame. That some nature lovers think that sacrificing many many human lives to mosquito diseases is more worthwhile than actually killing the mosquitos along with some other eco problems. You think we have problems in N. America (I'm in Fla.), try being in south america w/ malaria or worse. Sure DDT nearly made the eagle extinct. But has recovered well. Knowing and learning from the past mistakes I'm pretty sure we could effectively deal with the buggers much better than what is currently being done. Several hundred people have died in america from this. A heck of lot more further south. --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "WEST HOVLAND" wrote:

I know Fred will be able to hook you up with the right stuff. Eagle also has an allen head screw for the brake reservoirs as well. I've put them on my KLR and on the reservoir caps on my Strom and Hawk. Eagle (and Fred's too) will come with the correct allen wrench for the application, too. And no, I don't get a commission on this stuff. Mike and Fred do one hell of a job keeping KLRistas on their bikes. Buddy

------additional reply------------------------------ I Agree with you (Harry) and others - but one more thought FWIW. I have a mix of SS fasteners and some stock fasteners on my KLR. For many years I have removed the fasteners from various cars/cycles, that were serviceable but beginning to show signs of corrosion. For many years I have soaked these in products like CLR, or if extreme, in Naval Jelly, rinsed them off and then reused them (if they we serviceable) AFTER I coated the shaft and thread area in silicone seal. It solves two primary concerns - the arrestment of corrosive processes and the retention of the fastener - AKA like Loctite w/ no corrosion events to deal with later on. I luv SS fasteners for the most part, and use them often. Anyway, no big deal, but silicone sealer is often overlooked as a fastener accessory. Mike Torst A16 Las Vegas
