what a day....
Took the KLR out for some fire roads and a few trails and ended up
riding about 250 miles today - some of it way back in the mountains
between Virginia and West Virginia. Great Ride and came home feeling
wonderful and ready to face another week of work.
Pulled in the driveway and went to shift to neutral and the shift
lever dropped off. Its broken at the weld. Bike has less than 3k on
it!
But just gotta grin
and love the timeing!
Who makes the best replacement and where can I get one FAST.
Thanks!

WOW! You must have gotten one from "bowl of rice AND fishhead day"
for it to have lasted that long.

If you're not going to have the OEM one welded, I'll buy the pieces off you for postage + the cost of a beer. The shifter is OK, just the welding is crap. These bike that keep breaking the shift levers must not say "MADE IN JAPAN" on the neck like mine... A15 OEM shift lever, only welds have been adding large washers to the backside and grinding them to fit and look like they belong there. Even got a spare (part of a larger ebay thing) that I added the washer too also, but it just rides along in the fannypack I keep on the tailrack with a metric adjustable wrench just in case. Dooden (Feel better knowing if I rip this one off I can just pick up the pieces and put the spare on, then weld the pieces back together. Mine broke too. At the same spot. I took it to the local muffler shop and
they welded in five minutes for no charge.

norberto : sorry but i got to bobs house on sunday and i was very
impressed with both the bike and the owner . the bike has lotsa
upgrades and the bike is cosmetically beautiful . i put money down
to hold the bike and i'm running over there this monday morn to pay
the remainder . i paid asking price because the bike is worth it and
i also bought some new soft klr soft luggage that was of no further
use to the owner . keep looking norberto and i wish you well on your
search !!! ---------- arthur
