Sorry if you get this twice - I'm not sure if this reached the list the 1st time 'round. I'd like to add some farkles to the KLR, so I'm looking to upgrade the charging system. Does anyone here have any direct experience with the Electrex stator & R/R setup? I'd like a system that will allow me to run a pair of auxilliary lights, heated grips and an electric jacket liner. Well if your looking for the original transalp , here ya go, '89 Transalp, XL600V, recent upgrades, new parts, 2 new CDI's, New Ohlins shock, new rear tire w/ big ass HD tube , new front wheel bearings, new sprockets, chain, new progressive fork springs. Runs great, starts if you look at it, this is not a perfect cosmetic bike, some plastic is cracked, but is all there. 2" dent in tank, not a beauty queen but a great runner. I am in NW Washington state, near Mt Vernon, Anacortes area. I've heard very mixed reviews about the electrex upgrades, particularly regarding a part of the bike that is generally trouble-free. I use grip heaters and an electric vest in the winter without problems- I put the battery on a trickle charger once a week. If you NEED more light, I suggest spending the money instead on an auxiliary light with an HID bulb in it- this way you can turn day into night using LESS power than the stock headlamp (rig it so the stock headlamp doesn't run at the same time). An LED taillight and LED instrument lights will also free up another 20-25watts. Devon
