Yep. Read about it this morning in the Racine (WI) paper. Unbelieveable! Both rider and passenger were very VERY fortunate. Tom

muffler woes and extra hose from dekalifornication

Post by Edmund » Sun Jul 18, 2004 7:49 pm

Three questions: 1) After DeKalifornicating my KLR-650 today I noticed one long hose apparently coming from the carb or thereabouts running back along the top of the subframe and going under the rear fender. It looks like a black hose, not one of the colored ones like in Mark St Hilaire's DeKalifornication procedure. Is this just another vent line that I leave alone or did I miss something? 2) While attempting the stock muffler cleanout today I broke off the head of the forward cleanout screw. Compressed oatmeal strikes again. Anyone else just leave the threaded shaft in there? I replaced the rear with a new one installed with a good glop of antiseize. 3)I didn't notice anything coming out the cleanout hole when I covered the exhaust and tapped the muffler with a mallet, but I wasn't running the throttle up as I needed 3 hands to do throttle, mallet, and plug the exhaust. Is this cleanout useless or should I do it again? Edmund A17 in the GI Joe colors
