I can see how a KLR would have a rough time on the Kane creek trail, but (if I recall correctly) you made it almost the whole way if you were pretty much just riding in water. I have started at the south end and ridden north without much problem on my street version KLX650. Maybe it's easier if you start at the south so you are fresh for the harder parts. Other good places to take a KLR include Gemini bridges, Chicken corners, Monitor and Merimac, Hidden canyon, and the ATV trail around Klondike bluffs. Last time I was there with some guys who wanted a challenge I sent them on the Amasa back trail since I was going hiking with some other folks. I figured that since the trail is basicly unrideable unless you are some sort of pro trials rider they would quickly figure out I was screwing with them and turn around and go to the second destination I mentioned. Well, it turns out they made it the whole way (cursing me the whole time no doubt) out and back. After that I decided it was time to sell my KLR and KLX and buy a KTM EXC like they ride. Anyone want a KLX650?
