Just noticed that my brake light wasn't working so I thought the bulb was blown. Took the lens of to change it, and the bulb is fine. The problem is both elements are lit. So it seems the brake light is stuck on. It was getting too dark to mess with it. Anyone ever have this happen, or have some suggestions. I did a quick check and didn't find anything looking abnormal at the switches. Thanks, Rob

It's usually a toasted rear brakelight switch, the microswitch on the front brake is more reliable. Follow the wires from the rear switch up to the connector and disconnect them. See if the light goes out. Save the wire/spring piece off your old switch, and fit it to any brakelight switch that looks similar, they'll all work. No need to spend $$$ for the Kawi part. I went through four of those things until I got fed up and bought a hydraulic brakelight switch buils into a banjo bolt. fourstrokesonly.com, bajadesigns.com, etc would all carry that. Rob- if you find it's the rear switch that's toast as Devon suggests, i just replaced the factory switch on my bike with a hydraulic switch to make room for the kickstarter... LMK if you need/want it and we'll work something out. fixer

Constantly. I finally ended up taking the switch apart, cleaning contacts, di-electric greasing the whole thing and lubing the "pull" part and put it back together. Depending on your mechanical skills or lack thereof, it might be cheaper to buy another switch. It's a part/piece packed little thing, so putting it back together took a few minutes but has worked perfectly since. You might also want to check the spring and make sure it's not hooked on anything. An errant twig or stick could have bent it into the frame or one of the bolts. Good luck millerized

Devon, Thanks for the tip on the hydraulic switch. I saw, and asked you about the one you have on your bike at the NOAB, but fergot to ask where you got it. Replaced the doohickey of my KLR650 (A15, 14,555 miles, dino oil burner at highway speeds, operator wears a fullface helmet, but hasn't bought a service manual) The doohickey was fully intact and it's weld looked good to my non-welding certified eyes.
