Shameless plug: check out my KLR website, there are also links to other relevant sites: http://klr6500.tripod.com/ *I* think that you ought to just ride it for a while and see if you're happy with it as is, or if there are things that could be tweaked. It's a common thing to replace the front rubber brake line with one made of braided stainless steel, update the brake pads, (I like the Galfer Green & Black), get an aftermarket bash plate and probably replace some of the stock "compressed oatmeal" fasteners with better quality ss ones. There are all kinds of things that you CAN do with a KLR, it's just a matter of deciding what you want/need to do. The same thing happened to me and the correct answer is flat side
