help ! removing front sprocket

Hi all,well here i am trying to get the front sprocket lose so i can put a smaller one on.DAM how tight is that nut on there,the sprocket,do i need a impact wrench.Im not good at this stuff but this seems simple enough.I have the fork brace and progressive springs, and a set of mt 21,think ill let the shop guys do that,lol.Thanks for any help yall can give,Dave in Vegas.P.S. is the sproket nut regular thread,lefty losen?

Lefty Loosy Righty Tighty is correct, did you bend the retaining washer out of the way ? Heavy 6 point socket on a heavy 1/2" drive ratchet with a nice chunk of pipe over the handle, with somebody on the bike putting enough pressure on the rear brake pedal to hold the wheel(chain/sprockets) then apply pressure to break it free. My electric impact only made noise without result on that sucker. Dooden A15 Green Ape

Not to be secondary, but DO NOT hammer it yet. Have you tried a bit of Heat? If the extended breaker bar does not work, try Liquid Wrench or Wd-40 in a SLOW way - Create a silicone shell / aluminum foil 10 to 2 wrap. It is basically a 3/4 height bowl sealed to the sprocket. Ok, AFTER it is dried, fill is w/ LW, Wd, or whet ever is on sale that is similar. Put a rag under it and go to work. When you come home, try the removal process again. If it is STILL messed up, try the corrosion removal material (Naval Jelly) in the same manner, but not overnight. Maybe one hour. Summary - do NOT beat the shaft. Mike Torst Las Vegas
