I have been reading all the KLR 650 posts for a while now. A great bunch of riders out there with lots of good ideas. I have been planning on getting a KLR 650 for a while and just picked up a used 2003 with 5300 miles.. Very clean and all road miles. Soon to be on lots of dirt..... My last KLR 650 was in the late 80's , Blue and white, and sold it in the early 90's. I have been riding a KLX 400 ( green DRZ 400) for a couple years now and wanted an adventure bike again. Don't get me wrong the KLX 400 is street legal and will get me anywhere, anytime, but the KLR 650 is MUCH more comfortable on the street. Hope to meet some of the Oregon area riders this summer, possibly Jordan Valley in June. My next ride will be the Cal Poly Penguins Dual Sport out of San Luis Obispo, CA http://www.penguinsmc.org/ Then the fun and time consuming work to help put on the Merced Dirt Riders, Little Polecat Enduro, in May see our web page at: http://www.merceddirtriders.com/ See you on the Trail or Road Larry Rego Oakdale CA Do you Yahoo!? Larry, When the passes open will have to get you over here for a ride. I'm about 40 minutes north of where 108 runs into US395. This is a small world. I grew up just above Sonora so I know that Oakdale is(was) where the Team Roping championships are held. As I kid I used to race the in the scrambles they held in the old rodeo grounds on a SL125 that I bought from Dave Bird's Honda/Yamaha in Sonora.
