Hey guys, Melissa at Cycle Brakes writing. I've just finished installing our new 320mm wave rotor on the KLR... (made by Galfer).See Photos on the "photo section" pretty cool So far, with only 37 miles the feel is a bit more progressive than with the previous round version rotor. The weight is quite different and best of all wet performance has done wonders to the brakes... better feel and much more controllable quicker brake power. The idea behind the Galfer WAVE rotors is to allow for less fade under hard braking since the blades should be cooling the pad as you ride the bike and also allow for less rotating mass therfore quicker steering... We will go out and ride hard on the brakes this weekend up on HWY 33 (Near Galfer's office) and see what performance and temperatures we can read... Ride safe, Melissa Whitacre Cycle Brakes

Reminds me - I setup a group buy (14 replied) and then we went on hold for Mike C and the dual-piston caliper - and the wave rotor is well into development. I want extend an apology to all potential group buyers. I had no idea that events such as this would occur to preclude the 320mm disk/bracket upgrade. On the other hand, new stuff to look consider. I learned a lot about vendor/supplier pricing relationships. I also know that when we met our minimum 10 units, that the deals changed - Fred played straight though. It can still be done, I suppose, but Mike C. and the Melissa have to set price points. Mike Torst Las Vegas

You would think that cumulative sales of the KLR would have reached the point of critical mass where the bigger brake rotor companies, eg. EBC would develop an oversized rotor soon, at a price point that blows the other competitors away. Time will tell. project KLR600 SE supermotard spoke about nissin calipers, so the info is out in the public domain regarding the twin pots. Where to get calipers was never a secret. Just about any other bike on the road has beefier calipers. Most any will work, maybe you need a bigger master cylinder, but that's no big deal. The pain is that if you don't have access to a milling machine, making the mounting braket for the caliper is precise work and would be nearly impossible on your own with typical home tools. The odd part is that once you have one dialed in on a CNC rig and saved to a file, producing them is trivial. You do have to go through a fitting and testing process to get it right though, so doing the first one isn't so efficient.
