I have taken my 98 KLR out on the Texas Motor Speedway infield track
a few times. I had no idea the bike really can handle the corners
well as most sport bikes. I was passing many bikes on the corners,
when I got to the straights the the sportbikes had the advantage, but
not many could pass me. I could use any advice on bike handling,
suspension, and performance mods anyone can give me, for my 98 KLR.

Hi Joe: I'm running Michelin Anakee at present. I've got about 9000 miles on them now. I will start thinking about replacing them (at least the rear) in another couple of thousand miles. I have had no traction problems at all in the rain, but I do ride conservatively in the rain. The Anakees work very well for me. The majority of my riding is pavement, fire roads, two track, and trails in that order. We don't see much mud in the Arizona desert (and I wouldn't want to ride in it if I found some), so I can't comment on the mud ability of the tires, but I would expect them to be poor in that respect. BTW, the rear is a radial. Ron, Gilbert, AZ>Thats if I can > get 8,000 miles out of that set.I'm hoping a knob tire can get me > 3,000 to 4,000 miles. > > Thanks for any info,Joe.

need help making a klr 650 a super motard
17 inch rims laced to accept the R compound tires,,,,,,, Best bang for
the buck
another best bang for the buck is Fork springs and a rear 500 LBS spring, The
gray one from Fred,, Next big $ would be Forks, bigger ones like off any
sport bike, Rear shock,, And maybe a one off 800 cc head kit. Only way to make
a KLR fast....
