toasty muffs

Looking for info on tire selection and milage.Going to slab it from nj to montana.Then hit the twisty stuff in the rocky mtns in B.C. Then on to Whitehorse, Yukon where I'll change tires.Those new tires are going to bring me to Prudhoe bay,Alaska. We are bringing the second set of tires and just having the honda dealer install them in whitehorse. So roughly 4,000 miles to whitehorse then about 4,000 in alaska and 4,000 home.I was thinking of something like a metzeler tourance then change to something like a metzeler sahara.I figure burn up the knobs as far as they take me then put back the tourance on.Thats if I can get 8,000 miles out of that set.I'm hoping a knob tire can get me 3,000 to 4,000 miles. I've been wondering about street tires myself, and would like the collective list to humours us here. I've heard of the Kenda 657 being used with good results. Has anyone used Metzeler ME880s? Or Metzeler ME88/ME33? What works particularly well in the wet on pavement?
