I'm seriously considering purchasing a new KLR650 and wanted to know if anyone has any imput on how they like the bike. Any info (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My son and I have had a total of 2 KLR's each. We currently have the 2004 models. There seems to be little difference in any of them except the color. The red color just seems to make it ride better. It definitely makes it look better than the green. JOHO, having had both colors. The bike will not do everything well, but it does most things well enough to satisfy us. The price is right, and the KLR list will provide you with everything you need to know to upgrade and maintain the bike. The bike is also very cheap to purchase. We love 'em. I would buy a KLR because its fun to ride. Its low maintenance so you get more time to have fun to ride. Its about the best multipurpose bike on the market so I can have fun riding most anywhere. Its a passable enough touring bike that I can go somewhere else and have fun riding. Its low cost enough so I have the money to go somewhere else to have fun riding. I rode over 30,000 miles last year. 24,000 of that was on the KLR. The other five bikes only got 6,000 miles between them, if that tells you anything. Many people on this list like to bad-mouth Kawasaki for the imperfections of the KLR, but nobody will discourage you from buying one. For the price, it's hard to beat. Allan A14 (2000) with 81,000 miles.
