Hi all. I'm looking for a rider in the bay area that might be able/willing to help. Here's my situation. I'm pretty new to riding, and have finally decided on a KLR. I'm looking at one next week near Freemont, CA (south of Oakland). I live up in Marin County, and am looking for someone who might be able to ride the bike from Freemont to San Rafael for me. My situation is twofold. One, I just don't feel comfortable hoping on the freeways and riding it back yet, as I'm just to new to this. I'm licensed and took my MSF course and all, but that was a year ago, and I'd like to get some time in the neighborhood before venturing out on the freeways. And two, there will a bunch of accesories with it that I'll have to tote back in my car. FIrst things first, I have to get the bike, then if I do, arrange a time to get it, which could probably be after thanksgiving. But wanted to feel out if there is anyone out there that might be able to help. I'm willing to pay a bit (maybe $100-150 or so is what I can swing) and would probably take a few hours some Saturday or something. Also a good chance to meet any other KLR riders in the Bay Area. I'm fairly new to motorcycling and would love to meet some people in the area to learn from, maybe ride with. Thanks for any leads or thoughts. Tim

Some U-hauls rent small motorcycle trailers. You can rent a pickup truck and pull the trailer. my guess is the cost would de under $100 easy. I looked up the U-maul website www.uhaul.com and found the motorcycle trailer is $15 a day to rent. I think a 2 wheel drive pick up truck is about $40 a day plus milage

Hey tim, If it's someone you want to ride it, I'M YOUR MAN! Others have some good suggestions, but if you want to give me a reason to ride down to Marin, (I'm in Sonoma County) and come help you out by riding your bike back, no problem. I have lots of time now, and although I would not mind some cash, I certainly could not take $100 or more from you. I don't work now, I'm 38, clean Ca license, car, motorcycle and big truck, and I know the Bay area very well. I also work on KLR's, so I could give you a good inspection of you new ride. Let me know.
