Hello again. I was tracking some mo' stuff on the KLR and ran into the Marine Corp version at: http://www.janes.com/defence/land_forces/video/m1030m1_diesel_motorbik e.shtml Nice video. Like the forward crash bars - already have the civilian version of the fuel tank - yes it that big! Oh, you'll need Real Player - even the free one will do the job. Mike T A16 modified Las Vegas

marine corp klr650 - diesel-powered - m1030m1 - #2.1

I had a hunch they were VERY similar - one reply I received stated that it was shorter on the Marine-spec cycle due the incredible mileage they attain as 600cc diesel bikes, which was inconsistent with direct visual comparisons. Live and learn, and thanks. Even the one I have is THICK and STRONG. I jumped the gun on trusting the specs for capacity based on my thoughts that the gas tank the Marines are using maybe incredibly thick to survive almost any crash and protect the radiator and coolant tank. Don't believe everything you read. It's a 7 gallon tank on the diesel. CA Stu A13 List sponsored by Dual Sport News at www.dualsportnews.com. Now hold on there Wally, the pic on the page Mike linked to is clearly the larger tank. What I was referring to was the fact that the spec sheet's author labeled it as a 3.8 gal tank, when the pic shows the larger IMS tank. Did you look at the spec sheet? http://www.autoshow.ro/forum/viewthread.php? action=attachment&tid=1312&pid=30225 Thanks CA Stu
