front brake rotor bolts

Anybody have a suggestion on how to get a replacement starter for less than the $225 Ron Ayers gets? I was up in the Adirondacks for a 5-day trip, and my starter went on the 2nd day. Not that I mind having my buddies push-start my bike a whole bunch of times, but it's time for a new starter. Is it worth trying to get one of the automotive starter shops to rebuild it? Matt, Yes, it's very much worth a shot at having the starter rebuilt. Usually the two things that fail are the bearings (brass bushings) and/or the brushes. The windings almost never fail unless you've benn running the thing in muddy water. Good luck and post your success... MarkB

Matt- What makes you think that the starter is shot, can you give us any more diagnostic information about your starter problem? The reason I ask is that you might be the first person to report a bad starter motor on the list. It's not a part that fails too often. Z DC A5X A12X

Matt- I've copied the list so that you can get everyone's expert opinion (is there such a thing on this list?) on your problem. My advice is to first replace the battery before doing anything else, I've experienced all sorts of starter weirdness with a toasted battery. Plus for $30, it's a cheap maintenance item even if it doesn't fix your problem (your battery is 4.5years old after all). Z DC A5X A12X

I had similar "weird starter" problems with my A13. Bty was original, with 51,000 km on it I didn't realize that it was a bty problem because it died with no warning except hesitation in starting a couple of times a couple of days earlier. Once the new battery was installed, things were back to normal, just in time to put it away for the winter, (some time in the next few days, until late March), DC

Hi. I need to get a new set of bolts for my front disk rotor. Kawasaki part# 92150-1852 Need 9. Cheapest I've found so far is $1.42 each at www.ronayers.com plus $7.00 shipping. Anyone know of a cheaper source? I like to support my local dealer but refuse to pay them $3 per bolt. I was actually mostly interested in whether anyone made a higher quality replacement (the Kawi ones are pretty soft). I e-mailed Sagebrush but got no reply. Called a few local bolt suppliers but the bolt is too specialised (low profile to clear the fork plus a flange behind the head to lock into the rotor hole). Tony
