I have a 1999 model. The windshield directs the air right at my neck
on the highway. Any recomendations on what brand and height might get
the air flowing just over my head, without going too high?
And, I need a metal skidplate. Any recomendations on that?
Thanks.

windshields & skidplates
Before you buy a tall windshield, take off the stock windshield and ride a
few hundred miles without it. My preference is no windshield at all. Two
years ago, I rode 11,000 miles in five weeks with a tall windshield. Took it
off when I got home, and it's never been back on.

I just got back from a trans Europe trip, in one of the hottest
summers on record, and experienced a lot of overheating (not boiling
over) problems. I ended up hardwiring the fan "on" to slow down the
build up of heat, but after 100k at motorway speeds the temps began
to creep up. I flushed the radiator out, but no difference. A few
bikers I bumped into said it was a known issue with this bike, but I
live in a very hot country (Greece) and had no problems before.
Suggestions?
