klr checklist

Post by anthony ramondo » Wed Aug 27, 2003 12:18 pm

Been on the gel seat for about six weeks now and so far any ride over two hours in duration has kicked my ass (or maybe it just felt that way). Needless to say, I'm not real happy with it and am currently looking for options. batteryparkband wrote: Last one, I promise...(for now) I am out of the bike ownership gig for 7 years and am just getting back into it with the KLR 650. It is really a stock bike. What should I look out for with this bike? What upgrades do I NEED? What are my maintenance issues/guidelines/intervals? I put on a twinair filter, leaned out the carb to a 142 main jet, and am putting on a screen type fuel filter tonight. That's about it. I was thinking of doing the balancer doohickey upgrade. Front brake seems to be more than enough, although I haven't ridden 2-up yet. Are the headlight upgrades I see on ebay worth it? Any reviews on the Dual Star gel seat cover? Any input would be appreciated. I'm basically just stoked to ride this thing and I love it already. I've owned it for about a month and have only ridden it 4-5 days due to some carb problems that I had to take in and have a shop remedy for me. I don't want to be without it for that long again and am just happy to "talk shop" about the bike and what I can do to keep it up as well and as long as I can. Thanks -j. That depends on how many miles you can ride it without breaking anything, and what your definition of "major" is... There are KLRs with 75k+ miles on them out there. Krokko -- Dr. J. Christopher Krok John Lucas Adaptive Wind Tunnel Caltech MS 205-45, Pasadena, CA 91125
