Wow! I have never seen anything close to this worm. Every other e-mail I'm
getting is spam from this beast. I hope they can stop it, its getting
downright ugly.

Actually, I *think* the one you've been getting hit with is the Sobig virus. My anti-virus program quaranteened well over 100 hits.
It suddenly stopped last night.

It's "Sobig.F" doing all the mailing. Many of the messages aren't from the virus itself. They're mail rejection bounces that are being sent to the From: addresses that the virus has mined from the victim's address book. Now MSBLAST/Lovsan/Nachi is a whole different can of worms. My $212 million per year employer couldn't ship product from several of its overseas locations on Wednesday thanks to these baddies. I got to put in a 29-hour workday starting Tuesday at 9AM. I was up until 3-4AM on Thursday and Friday patching machines and scanning the network. And I'll be heading into work this weekend to get NAI/McAfee's crapass antivirus management framework up and running. The good news is that the software tools that us T-shirts have been pestering management about for many months are about to get purchased in a big hurry. New toys. Nice. RM>Wow! It's not the baddies fault is it? It's a failure of the IT staff at those sites to do their job. Infection by this Worm is/was totally preventable. The patch was released by M$ on July 16th 2003.> Now MSBLAST/Lovsan/Nachi is a whole different can of worms. Damm, I wish my clients would let me get away with that. I could use a raise in pay. I got a lot of calls from my clients and took care of all but one by assuring them that all patches have been applied as well as the updated anti virus definitions. The one client that had a problem had put in a system without my knowledge and had not applied the appropriate updates and patches. The vast majority of problems experienced by both corporate and individual uses can be solved by applying the patches when available and running a current anti virus solution. .........or by running Linux>I got to put in a 29-hour workday starting Tuesday at 9AM. >I was up until 3-4AM on Thursday and Friday patching machines >and scanning the network. Not staff. Management. We've been pestering management for a workstation update solution for a long time. Even MS's SUS, which is free, had never been implemented because mgmt had us working on too many other things deemed more important. Then there is also the usual "It's your dept's responsibility, not ours" when it comes to implementing solutions. Needless to say, it was a big wake-up call. My company, which is a Lotus Notes shop, has bypassed most of the serious virus outbreaks. This is good, but it's also bad in that it's allowed them to be complacent. They laughed at Melissa. Nachi put them in their place.>>Now MSBLAST/Lovsan/Nachi is a whole different can of worms. I'm salaried exempt. I don't get jack, except for a thank-you note from the CIO. I'm replacing the rear stock Dunlop and leaving the front Dunlop.
I'm looking at the new Michelin Anakee (more street, less dirt) as a
replacement. Anybody experienced any problems running with two
different tires? The Anakee is much like the T66X but with silica.
