klr 650 and trailer

Post by Grant Johnson - Horizons Unlimited » Tue Aug 19, 2003 9:48 pm

Do you REALLY want a suddenly upside down trailer behind you in the bush - with a passenger? I don't think so! Smells like a crash to me. Probably better brakes than a KLR ever dreamed of... and of course you won't be going straight at the time... and yes I did think of it once upon a time. But decided against it. Confirmed when I met a couple in Tunisia who had just come through Algeria with a trailer behind a Tenere - not happy campers, having crashed several times off-piste when the trailer flipped. A swivel does NOT help when the trailer is upside down and dragging. Good idea on road. see you on the road someday, somewhere... without a trailer... See: http://www.mindspring.com/~gbyoung2/misc/addons/hitchdoc/swivel_all_bw.jpg Scroll down on the above sire for several views. The trailer can rotate 360 deg. and not drastically affect the bike.
