ikea sheepskin as seat cover?

Post by Lujo Bauer » Sat Aug 16, 2003 8:11 pm

Anyone ever tried using the $20 IKEA sheepskin rugs as seat covers? Seems pretty cheap if it works. -Lujo [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I'm not familiar with IKEA ?, but I've made sheepskin seat covers from the car covers avail. at autoparts and discount stores they range fron $29.. - $ $45.00 for a real Sheepskin cover and you can usually make 2 bike covers from one, don't use the fake Sheepskin it's pretty much useless, the car ones are particularly nice as they have a backing material which allows cutting a foam (sleeping bag ground pad, or the foam material building contractors use to kneel on to fit and slip inside), which I use on my road bike to prevent monkey butt syndrome and IMHO it's considerably more comfortable than any expensive custom seats I've experienced, they're cool in the summer months and warm when it's cold. It could be a intermittent open at the bulb socket caused by corrosion. Try removing the bulbs from the turn signal sockets, and spraying WD 40 in the turn signal sockets. Water condensation can collect inside the bulb housings, especially the left signals, as the bike leans on the side stand. yes, it happened to me on a KLR. Conall 93,95 KLR 650
