I'm planning a solo ride on my KLR650 in the next couple of weeks,
coming up thru central Florida and riding the Georgia mountains.
Any suggestions for on and off-roading in GA? I'd like to camp a
few nights as well. I have a week's vacation scheduled and would
like to break in my new Pirelli MT90s. The tighter the twisties the
 better.

warm(hot!)weather helmet.
Check out the new Jarow X2. Excellent features including some very
 effective venting.

georgia suggestions
Jerry,

I can't offer you much in the way of off-road info in GA, but you might want to consider the area around Suches, GA as home base. That is the home of Two Wheels Only (TWO) and the roads around there are awesome. I know Britt and GT can offer suggestions on roads that are off the beaten path, or pavement.

I've been going down there for the last 8 years in Sept. The people and the place is great.

 	Jerry,

I've rode all over the Georgia mountains---one of the best places to ride
 in the U.S.--really !!!
If you don't do anything else----------go to T.W.O. (two wheels only)
campground--and camp. It's right in the middle of everything and you can
stay there and do day rides all around the area. They have great camping,
food, fun, and lodging to hang out in and tell lies and find riding buddies.
Don't drive your car to TWO-----they'll throw you out !!!!
Just stay in the Northwest corner of Georgia and any riding you do will be
great----they will have good riding suggestions at TWO. It kind of weird at
TWO-----All the time your there, no matter how long or short------you just
run a continual tab on your food, drinks and lodging or camping. When you
leave-----just pay up. The food is great.
And don't miss going up to "Brasstown Bald" the highest peak in the state.
Offroading opportunities are many. There is one designated offroad
area---but many more legal open forest trails and roads----I would find it
impossible to tell you where they are at on an e-mail. If you use a GPS and
Mapsource software---I do have several track logs I could send you of lots
of mountain offroad riding I did at a dualsport ride they have there---which
 I did on my DRZ400S.
Helen, Georgia is a neat little Switzerland like town to visit that some
people rally enjoy----however it is on my list of touristy places to stay
 away from---YMMV.
I myself wouldn't think of going to this area in the middle of the summer
and suffer thru the oppressive heat----however, your from Florida---so it
may be just the ticket for you. I may be weird here-----everybody tells
me----"Damn Mark, you ride all year round don't you"????? "Well, no--I
don't ride in the summer time" is my reply. Your more likely to see me
riding in the snow than in the summer time.
Well sounds like you're going to have a ball !!! I passed thru the area
last fall while doing a Smokey Mtn. Adventure ride-----which you can read
about on my website----I'd look thru it if I were you as you may find some
neat places to hit on the way there.
My website is: www.bigdogadventures.com -------once there, click on the
 "2002 Fall Adventure Ride".

 	Have fun !!
