tire ? radial vs. ply
I have an '86 KLR600 needing new tires. I have
decided on the Kenda K-270's (ply tires) or Dunlop
D-606's (radial tires). I was talking with technical
support at Dennis Kirk about the correct size of tire
needed. My service manual states size of 3.00x21
Front and 5.10x21 Rear.
Dennis Kirk technical support advised that I should go
with the K-270's since they are a ply tire and that is
what originally came on the bike. They stated that
the radial may not fit the rim correctly since it was
originally made for ply tires.
I know many of you have had experiece in this area
because tires are always discussed on this web site.
Please provide your input. Also, what size would fit
correctly if I am able to use radial tires since I was
kind of leaning toward the Dunlop's I thought the
Dunlop 90/90R-21 front and 130/90R-17 rear would fit
but they tell me they can't confirm this either.

Both kinds of tires will work...I've even run a 606 rear with a 270
front before. For sizes, the 130/90-17 and 90/90-21 are fine. For the
Kendas the 3.00-21 or the 3.25-21 will fit the front and the 4.60-17
or the 5.10-17 will fit the rear. Just depends which way you want to
go. Fatter tires offer more float and ground contact but the narrower
tires will (noticeablY) more flickable.

klr 250 repair manual
Hey there guys
I was wondering of any of you have the 250 KLR Repair manuals?
I own a 250 KLR 1999 (the the D-16 i think)
Apparently i need the 650 as a base manual and there is a 250 addon
to that, if anyone can halp me out i would be VERY thankful.
Also was wondering if any one knew the torque settings for the
engine bolts?
Thanks.
James
