98 650 airbox wanted
I managed to burn a hole in the bottom of my airbox. (Muffler managed to
disconnect while on the interstate and the hot gas from the headpipe was too
much)
Anyone got an extra?
Thanks

Dan, you might try this: Look through your scrap stuff or go to a junk yard, and find an appropriate plastic part on a junk car that you can use as a repair patch... something flat and solid. Then, run a bead of silicone around the hole, drop the repair patch into place and pop rivet it there. On *some* plastics, you can use a soldering iron tip to melt & weld plastic parts together, kind of like metal welding. (My son showed me that trick.) I think Harbor Freight sells plastic welders fairly cheap too, not
sure what they use for filler.. must come with plastic filler
sticks/rods to backfill or buildup if needed ?

Does anyone run a 15 39 tooth combo? And what is the appropriate
chain length?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

They sell plastic welding rods that can be used with a heatgun with a
concentrator nozzle too. You must have an exact match of the type of
plastic on all pieces and the rods or you won't get a bond.

I've had some good responses on how to fix the airbox.
I have a temporay patch consisting of a piece of actual tupperware plastic
and lots of silicone rubber.
To permanently fix the box, I believe it will have to be removed, which
looks like a big job.
I would rather replace the box, once going to the trouble to take it off.
Although I am hesitant to spend $100 + on a new box bottom.
I hoped some one on the list had some spare parts.
Thanks
