I'm a new bike owner... why would you want a
lockable gas cap (assuming you're living
somewhere that bottled water is more expensive
than gas)? I have one (for the stock tank) and
it just means I have to carry another stupid key?
Can I get one that doesn't lock?
Thoughts?

Keeps the locals from siphoning your gas and keeps the local kiddies from putting baaaadd stuff in there. Maybe not a problem where you live, but most definitely a problem if you're adventuring touring in lands where gas might not be the commodity that it is here in the states. Mine locks with the ignition key. Aren't they all supposed to be like
that?

I have a locking gas cap for the IMS 6.6 (7?) gallon tank. It's made
by Acerbis. It's not in their new catalog or on their website. I
think the part number has alot of two's in it like 2222222. You may
have to call them direct for the part #. it was about $26 with tax

Not the problem you might think it is because in those places you never leave your bike unattended. The motels are compounds and at border crossings when you enter buildings to deal with the endless nonsense you hire a kid to watch your bike. You should know this, Zach, living in DC as you do.
