dont run
Well my 1989 is still not runing worth a crap. and sometimeswont start at
all. I was working on it yesterday and decided that after doing the valves
the problem MUST be in the carb... so I put a very small(looked like
1/32inch) washer under the needle, that diaphram is a bitch to get back in,
could it be worn out? no tears in it. then I drilled out the plug so I could
change the screw setting(but didn't). and tried to start it. no start, check
plug, wet and very carbon covered, cleaned it and checked spark, very very
weak looking. got new one, very very weak looking...and still wet! just that
washer cant be making this happen could it? I am starting to suspect that
the coil is going out, do you guys have a very strong or very weak(barely
see it) spark? I have nothing to compare to. also, the jets were
compleatly cloged with junk before I thourohgly cleaned them, should I just
replace them? I installed an inline filter too. and that damn leaking
petcock is not getting a third cleaning, and I cant afford to rebuild it for
like 35 bucks, so I pluged the vacume tube and installed a yz 250 one- works
much beter. If I can get this one running right, I will get rid of my 750
maxim. help?

During daylight the spark looks like it's doing a "I think I can" .
Looks very weak soemtimes looks like it's not firing but it does. It
could also be the plug. replace it just to be sure ($2.50).

Both mega dealerships here will check your coil for free maybe the same's true in your town. They check the way it fires, not just the resistance; takes them a minute. Tell them you want to make sure it's really bad before ordering a new one. Bogdan> I am starting to suspect that > the coil is going out, >

It is a new plug, I am going to dink with conections on the coil then try
the plug cap and wire as David Gay said... It just seems realy weak to me.
and my carb prob is making it flood, every time i pull the plug its clean
and wet-gas. this bike sat for 6+ years in the weather with a fugled up
petcock so I am afraid that one of the tinytinytiny airways are pluged
internaly or something. the jets were compleatly cloged with the brown gook,
I am going to replace them, cleaning might not have been enough...

They do that here, and I probably will get it checked before getting new
plug cap and wire...

MTS rules, they've come thru for me many times. Before cell phones, I had to
walk until I could find a home or phone. Consider this, cell phones weigh
less than spare tubes. And like anything else just because you have one
doesn't mean you have to use it.
Kawasaki's Good Times Owners Group Has roadside assistance, but I have yet
to use/need it.
I had my KLR on the road again for just 8 days before I picked up my 1st
nail of the year. I was impressed at how well the rims held the air. If I
pulled the nail I lost air, when I put it back in it held until I got home.
So why does the KLR need tube?
