anyone want to be list administrator? nklr

I'll be the 1st to say that Jim often gets under my skin; something about cost posting makes me want to scream, throw my PC out into the street, and swear off the internet for good. But his outta control post makes the list exciting. Shit, that was the most entertaining post I have ever read ever! And Jim does seem to have a comment on darn near everything KLR related. He helps keep the list popping! Of course, I'm not getting treats from his wife either.... I always say the the list is 'owned' by the list admin. The list admin can ban somebody just because they are a bad speller for all I care. It is the list admins "house" and the list admin can choose his guests. But I will miss the excitement... Jim seems like a great guy and he has been very helpful to me and to others. I just wish he would consistently mark his non-KLR postings NKLR. He is, obviously, free to hold whatever opinions about the government, Lyme disease, etc. that he wants to -- it's just that the NKLR convention is one of the things that makes this forum so good and so useful. Some of us get thousands of email messages a day, and when some correspondents seem to willfully defeat our best efforts to file them into the appropriate inboxes, whole mailing lists become unusable... which is a shame, since the KLR mailing list is so great. Not to mention that when Jim posts on-topic, he's one of the folks that makes it so great. Threatening the list admin because he's trying to consistently enforce list policy and keep the signal/noise ratio under control is really low. Kurt is doing a terrific service maintaining a resource that's amazingly useful to all, and I hope he keeps doing it. Just like I hope Jim keeps posting -- marking his postings NKLR if they're off topic. Anyone who thinks Kurt's a hardass about list policy ougtta go look at the swedishbricks list archives. Lee used to ban a few people a week just because they couldn't stop incessantly rehashing the same tired battles about motor oil or how fast it was safe to drive on the highway, or... you get the idea. Not "moderate", ban outright. Now that guy's a hardass. :-) Thor

Remember the kid that was picked on in school. Most people picked on that person because many others did. The person often had a stigma attached that could only be removed by a complete change in environment , and social circle. How about the chicken that gets all its feathers pulled out by the other chickens. Point is, we're humans, perception is everything, truth be damned. I've been on this list for a couple of years now, and find it one of the best there is. I've also watched this person get some focus that wasn't pleasant, or warranted. I'm asking anyone that is willing, introspect on this issue, then ask ourselves if we are a part of a group mentality which may have unfairly targeted a person for the sake of being part of the group. A person must have like experience to have empathy for someone's position, and I'm willing to bet some of us do in this case. Personally, I find the different points of view on the list very interesting. Even though I may not agree or completely understand an individuals point of view, the respect of the person giving that view, or opinion is a basic common courtesy. Empathy, sympathy, common courtesy, or..Sometimes we can agree to disagree, and respect that in and of itself. VR Tom K.

Jim has been a vital member to your precious KLR list since before it was a list. It was just him, Gino, Bob H. and a few others and they just communicated with each other. This was when your magazine I think it is called Dual Sport News, was just getting off the ground. My husband was one of the original members and founders yet all you guys do is pick on him. > > Jim has always been willing to help others when asked. He has given advice, provided care or repair instructions, and has recently offered to collect a bunch of broken parts from you guys in order to take them to our local Kawasaki Representative. Yet, what he gets in return is crapped on. Certain people lie about him and his abilities. It seems all moderators of your group post Gino have been assholes towards him. I read a lot of the digests and I can see how Jim gets picked on. Yet, you moderators treat him like crap when he tries to set the record straight. > > I've tried to get Jim to just blow out your obviously biased and cliqued a-mail group. Yet, he refuses. He has friends on the list, plus it gives him something to do on his really bad pain days. Plus, he has a bit of pride in him that causes him to cling to the list because he is one of the top 5 longest standing members of this group. > > Jim has always been helpful to people. He has offered to get up in the middle of the night and come and pick up any stranded riders with his truck. Do you guys honor and respect him for his giving nature? No, you chastise him, censor him, even ban him. If it were not for his efforts, a lot of your members would not have the knowledge, parts, wisdom, and information that he has provided. Heck, without Jim's initial efforts with the other couple of guys, you would not even have an a-group list now. > > I'm going to stand out of my "Lady" suit and tell you what I think. I think YOU are unfair to my husband, and I think the other people that have cliqued up are total and complete assholes. As far as I'm concerned, your list is a congregation of about 50% losers and 50% of Jim's friends. Personally, screw your friggin list. Most of you aren't real men anyway. I'd like to see anyone of you perform as he has considering his health situation with Lyme Disease. I would like to take your e-mail group and shove it up the rear of anyone that chastises, lies, censors, or verbally mistreats my husband. In my opinion, he is more man that the majority of your listers. I'd like to tell you to take your group and shove it where the sun doesn't shine, but my husband won't leave the group. He loves it too much, and he enjoys helping people, trading for goods, reading riding reports, and picking up ride photos that get posted. He loves this damn group so much, he uses the pictures he obtains as wallpaper for our computer. > > I'll tell you what. You reinstate Jim, now, and I won't go any further. If you refuse, I will raise more hell with Yahoo than anyone has ever seen. I'll make it so that your group may just get booted because they don't want the hassle. You see, you are discriminating against a disabled person that is required to be heavily medicated. Do you realize how much damage I could do to your group by playing the discrimination card, plus, don't forget, I'm a woman. They will listen to me before they listen to you. Plus, I have documented proof of your treatment of Jim. What do you have? Nothing. Like I said before, I've got tons of postings to prove Jim's case. What do you have to disprove it? I'll tell you what you have, a few self righteous dick heads that piss and cry when something they don't like happens. Do you want to be on their side, or do you want to be neutral and play your part properly? I strongly suggest that you don't try to play poker with me. Jim has tried many times and lost almost every time. I will make your life and the groups life a living hell. I won't stop with Yahoo, I'll go to the ACLU, the FCC, The Society for Disabled persons, and if necessary, I'll go to the press/media. > > Because my husband has had Lyme Disease for about seven years, he probably won't get to enjoy the so called golden years. So, I intend to ensure that my husband does enjoy what time God has given him. So, put him back to free posting, or get set for war. I'm not a bitch you want to mess with. Now, do not mention this to Jim. He does not know about it, and I don't want him to. Just put his status back where it belongs and start giving my husband the respect he deserves. > > Seriously, > > Melissa Sherlock > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > List sponsored by Dual Sport News at www.dualsportnews.com. I second that as well, Kurt. Sometimes it's not easy being the facilitator, hang in there. TK

Oh, for crying out loud. He wasn't ever sent "out" in the first place. To quote Kurt, | No, he wasn't banned...I put him on moderated status because he still has | trouble using NKLR on Lyme posts... In other words, Kurt sees his messages before they go to the list and approves them if they're on-topic (or off-topic and marked with NKLR). You may have noticed something like 10 messages from Jim in the last couple of days? See, Kurt approved those. You get the idea. It's more work for Kurt and _no_ burden for anyone else, which makes the attack on Kurt even more ludicrous. Thor

True. Not that I was ever that kid... heh heh. And I think some folks here go out of their way to take Jim to task for offenses, imagined or real. Things they would hardly notice if it were posted by a newbie, but their tolerance threshold is set pretty low for Jim. Have a little patience, tolerance, or just ignore the remarks. Kurt has earned my respect doing what I'm sure is often a thankless job. It did seem a little weird to read Melissa's email on-list, disgression being the better part of valor or something like that. But Kurt is the moderator so it's really his call. Now I'll just sit back and pass judgment on all of you in a somewhat sardonic, yet slightly superior fashion, on account of I'm better than you. Keep up the good work Kurt. Mark DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "Thomas J Komjathy" wrote:
