Man, somedays I wonder if it is worth it... Kurt Fwd: Kurt Simpson---Treatment of My Husband Jim Sherlock
>>> Melissa Sherlock 2/14/2003 4:42:21 PM >>>
Mr. Simpson, I wanted to send this message to you, without my husbands knowledge, because you are wrong, very wrong. Jim has been a vital member to your precious KLR list since before it was a list. It was just him, Gino, Bob H. and a few others and they just communicated with each other. This was when your magazine I think it is called Dual Sport News, was just getting off the ground. My husband was one of the original members and founders yet all you guys do is pick on him. Jim has always been willing to help others when asked. He has given advice, provided care or repair instructions, and has recently offered to collect a bunch of broken parts from you guys in order to take them to our local Kawasaki Representative. Yet, what he gets in return is crapped on. Certain people lie about him and his abilities. It seems all moderators of your group post Gino have been assholes towards him. I read a lot of the digests and I can see how Jim gets picked on. Yet, you moderators treat him like crap when he tries to set the record straight. I've tried to get Jim to just blow out your obviously biased and cliqued a-mail group. Yet, he refuses. He has friends on the list, plus it gives him something to do on his really bad pain days. Plus, he has a bit of pride in him that causes him to cling to the list because he is one of the top 5 longest standing members of this group. Jim has always been helpful to people. He has offered to get up in the middle of the night and come and pick up any stranded riders with his truck. Do you guys honor and respect him for his giving nature? No, you chastise him, censor him, even ban him. If it were not for his efforts, a lot of your members would not have the knowledge, parts, wisdom, and information that he has provided. Heck, without Jim's initial efforts with the other couple of guys, you would not even have an a-group list now. I'm going to stand out of my "Lady" suit and tell you what I think. I think YOU are unfair to my husband, and I think the other people that have cliqued up are total and complete assholes. As far as I'm concerned, your list is a congregation of about 50% losers and 50% of Jim's friends. Personally, screw your friggin list. Most of you aren't real men anyway. I'd like to see anyone of you perform as he has considering his health situation with Lyme Disease. I would like to take your e-mail group and shove it up the rear of anyone that chastises, lies, censors, or verbally mistreats my husband. In my opinion, he is more man that the majority of your listers. I'd like to tell you to take your group and shove it where the sun doesn't shine, but my husband won't leave the group. He loves it too much, and he enjoys helping people, trading for goods, reading riding reports, and picking up ride photos that get posted. He loves this damn group so much, he uses the pictures he obtains as wallpaper for our computer. I'll tell you what. You reinstate Jim, now, and I won't go any further. If you refuse, I will raise more hell with Yahoo than anyone has ever seen. I'll make it so that your group may just get booted because they don't want the hassle. You see, you are discriminating against a disabled person that is required to be heavily medicated. Do you realize how much damage I could do to your group by playing the discrimination card, plus, don't forget, I'm a woman. They will listen to me before they listen to you. Plus, I have documented proof of your treatment of Jim. What do you have? Nothing. Like I said before, I've got tons of postings to prove Jim's case. What do you have to disprove it? I'll tell you what you have, a few self righteous dick heads that piss and cry when something they don't like happens. Do you want to be on their side, or do you want to be neutral and play your part properly? I strongly suggest that you don't try to play poker with me. Jim has tried many times and lost almost every time. I will make your life and the groups life a living hell. I won't stop with Yahoo, I'll go to the ACLU, the FCC, The Society for Disabled persons, and if necessary, I'll go to the press/media. Because my husband has had Lyme Disease for about seven years, he probably won't get to enjoy the so called golden years. So, I intend to ensure that my husband does enjoy what time God has given him. So, put him back to free posting, or get set for war. I'm not a bitch you want to mess with. Now, do not mention this to Jim. He does not know about it, and I don't want him to. Just put his status back where it belongs and start giving my husband the respect he deserves. Seriously, Melissa Sherlock [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Did I read that right ? Jim has been banned ? By all means if somebody dont like him they can set there own mail to ignore him just like the "NKLR", but would not agree to any ban. I do not want the job, just getting ready to start a new job and know I will never have the time. Some of the petty whining that goes back and forth gets old but again, set your "ignore" to filter it out, or just dont read it. I think the personnel stuff and insights that get bounced back and forth bring the human factor into this list. But gotta go and take my Lady out for the night. Dooden Woooooo calling for -32F wind chill tonight.

I am fairly new to the list, have been subscribed for about a year. I have found it to have real value. Because of the information on this list, I am changing Doohickey and doing a general check-out. It is also important to note that I purchased my KLR because of this list and the wealth of knowledge on it. I apparently missed something and don't understand what happened to create the issue, but damn people... I think the offer to collect the broken parts that was made is a very important move and will help the list overall. If you don't appreciate that then pound sand. I will let you all know the results of my inspection. Was Jimbo even banned? Pourquoi? We need Jimbo on this list, he's a character. Free the Texas One!!! I thought Connall and him were just having one of their episodes (Saucer of milk, table two, reeooww) And big ups to Redondo for coming out of the woodwork. CA Stu A13 :-) PS Better you than me, brother. -----Original Message----- From: Kurt Simpson [mailto:ajaxkls@...] Sent: Friday, February 14, 2003 3:16 PM To: DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com Subject: [DSN_klr650] Anyone want to be list administrator? I hate to think Jim was banned. Any of you ever stop by the VROC forum? You want to talk about a bunch of folks that like to rant and rave! Rarely is there any technical motorcycle stuff discussed unless some poor unsuspecting newbie happens along and asks a question. Chances are the poor sap will get flamed, but not always. There are several characters on that list who strive to keep the collective riled up and find some way to have an opposing opinion on any and every topic. So what? Delete them! You can tell from the message subject typically that you don't want to read it.... Delete, delete! The DSNKLR list is pretty darn tame in comparison and a fine bunch of folks with a great deal of information. The beauty of this type of community is that you don't have to listen to anyone that you don't want to...just hit the delete key! or as someone else pointed out...filter out those that you feel antagonized by, simple as that. Good grief, banning anyone is ridiculous unless they are a true spamster or are truly harming someone. Stating ones opinion does not hurt anyone. My .02 It's a sad day when a simple list with thousands of folks frequenting it feels it should ban one of its own. (another .01) Paul Frisco, TX A13 P2

She did OK on paragraphs 1-4, but 5 and 6 go to show that the two Sherlocks are like peas in a pod. Maybe Lyme is sexually transmitted? One word of advice, though... Yahoo is trigger happy when it comes to deleting groups and there is very little accountability. You might want to go here: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/dsn_klr650/members And click "export list". This will export all of the users and their settings to a text file. This will make re-creating the group easy if someone Pushes The Button. RM
