kenda 270's- use em? like em?
I like the advertised features and looks of the Kenda 270 tires-
especialy the wider (3.5") front tire option. Anyone out there
running these tires with the wider front tire, and if so, what are
your impressions of these tires?

I like mine. I just replaced the stock Dunlop with the 3.25 front. I can't compare it to anything else, but it sure climbs out of ruts better than the Dunlop did. Given equal availability, I would stick with the narrower front to quicken the steering, but frankly wouldn't expect to notice much difference between the two. kenda 270's- use em? like em?
Very happy, they take studs well (at least the sheet metal screws I
have in them) the wear like iron, handle well in the twisties (with
limits, mind you) handle pretty well in the dirt. They're also
cheap as hell and mine was VERY easy to mount.(YMMV on that aspect)
They make the steering feel a little tight/slow on the pavement when
you're setting still, but I'll buy more until they quit making them
or someone "donates" a different brand.
Just my opinion, that's what you wanted, right?!

Kenda Challengers as well, wear very well, stick like glue in the
corners, cheap. GOod street only tires, ain't even worth
paperweights on dirt.

Have you used K270 rear with oem Dunlop K750 on front? Looks like
oem rear on my A17 is going t*ts up by 3K but front's in great shape,
shows only a little wear, and should last thru at least one more rear
before replacing both. A K270 seems about right for that purpose,
but wondering about handling.

TFI...I don't either, but most off-pavement I've done with my KLR so
far hasn't been nasty enough to make much difference. Not bad enough
for a cheapskate like me to can it while it still looks almost new

When I rode with Mark Van Horn last year, that's the setup I had:
Kenda rear, stocker up front. I noticed a big difference in dirt
handling with the kenda up front. More surely planted in dirt
corners. The stockers are amazing street tires, and marginally
useable in the dirt. The Kenda's fit the bill. My front stocker
had about 3k left on it when I replaced it. Haven't regretted it.
If you like the feel and handling of the stockers, and want to
replace them cheaply, contact Dual-Star. They've got stock take
offs (0 mileage removed from the future Marines bikes) for $100 a
set. If you want the pretty good dirt, pretty good dirt, the
kenda's are hard to beat for about $75/set shipped.

Yes and Yes.
I originally got them because the stock tires are useless for any kind of
agressive terrain. K270's are cheap, they do pretty well off road, and
pretty well on the road. I would say they're a true 50-50 tire.
I like to run 28-21 psi on road and 15-15 psi off road. Don't hit any
boulders at warp speed, no pinch flats or bent rims.

Has any one compared the TKC-80's with the K270's.
These are the two choices I've narrowed it down to for replacing the
rim protectors.
