I'd like to change the oil this weekend on my new KLR. Anyone have the Fram
filter number? I'd hate to pay 15.00 at the Kawa. dealer...

Sure, the Fram is CH6070. Also, as a backup, the NAPA is 4951... I got a bunch of Emgo filters from Dennis Kirk. It was a little
difficult to find the right part numbers for the filter and O-ring
on the web site -- I'd recommend calling them. The O-ring is
Dennis Kirk part #30-143 and the Emgo filter is Dennis Kirk part #
30-1760. The Emgo filters are very inexpensive but don't come with
the O-ring so you need to buy both parts.

Very few NAPA stores seem to actually stock any motorcycle filters, unfortunately.> > Anyone have the Fram filter number for the KLR650? > > Sure, the Fram is CH6070. Also, as a backup, the NAPA is 4951...

You don't need a new o-ring for every new filter. If you're obsessive complusive maybe, but it's not worth changing every single time, every four or five times if it's in good condition is what I've been doing without any problems. Assumming that the O-ring is the ruber ring on thge holes in the
filter, I was woundering, are the O-rings inter changeable with
other brands of fiters, if so then the next time I buy a new filter
I could take them of and keep them as spares?????
