A cheap solution. I wear elk skin gloves, $35 from a cycle shop but $21 from a ranch supply store. They are softer and tougher than cow. As a backup, I purchased a set of industrial rubber gloves from a Army/Navy store for $3. They will fit over the elk gloves but are not bulky.

Donno about the looks, when comparing the two, but the JR ballistic gloves come in at well under 50.00 US when last I checked. Reasonably sure that you'll find some testimonials on the 3.0's (or the mat'l they're made from) from asphalt crashers, at the Joe Rocket site. Sounds like the ice gloves offer a good bit of protection. No idea of the abrasion resistance on those though. And haven't yet skidded down the road on my 3.0's, to give a first hand testimonial on their abrasion resistance. (one cold weather dirtdump, but that doesn't really count) Can say that they're warm to the low 40's, are designed for street riding, and will keep your hands dry. Oh, can also testify that the palm padding's excellent, and the little windshield wiper on the thumb is slick, and functional, too. I have had the Joe Rocket Ballistic gloves for a year now, don't really like them. They where part of a JR Ballistic package I bought. Bad Stuff --------- - The cuff is too short to pull over the jacket sleeve. You can get some exposed skin, not nice on cold days. - They are a bitch to put on. The liner inside doesn't stay put in the glove so you have wiggle your fingers to get them on comfortably. This is a real PITA when your buddies are ready to go and it takes you 2 minutes to put your gloves on. - The velcro strap around the wrist is hard to attach with gloves on. Duh!, how else should I do it? - They melt real easy. I reached down to adjust the idle screw on the carb. My glove touched the heat shield on the exhaust for a nano- second and vaporized the outer shell. A gortex patch kit fixed it, can't even see where the hole was. - Not sure how much protection they would offer in a fall (See item above) Good Stuff ---------- - They are pretty warm, like a good ski glove - They are fairly waterproof - They are pretty cheap - The wiper on the left thumb works well Bryan K A14

That's OK. Two of my best girlfriends, besides my wife of 16 happy years, were little Catholic School girls that went to school right next to the San Luis Rey Mission.
