earplugs
Here is the regulation, but I just don't understand what is considered
"custom"
I think the whole thing was written to prevent people from listening to
headsets and blocking out sirens (which makes sense).
Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll have to find these guys who pour
plastic in my ear (fun fun)

27400. No person operating any motor vehicle or bicycle shall wear any

165.
(b) Any person engaged in the operation of either special construction
equipment or equipment for use in the maintenance of any highway.
(c) Any person engaged in the operation of refuse collection equipment who
is wearing a safety headset or safety earplugs.
(d) Any person wearing personal hearing protectors in the form of custom

earplugs
I been stopped by deputy sheriff and highway patrol and they never
made a deal of it. So one day I asked a ex-cop friend that I work
with. He said such statutes are referred to as "CSLFA" - Chick Shit
Laws For Assholes. Niggling petty regulations that they hassle you
for when they got nuthin else on you.
I wear them any time I'm on the bike for more than 15min. And while
it's never been a problem for me, I have heard there are some natzi
cops that will cite you for that as well as tread depth on your tires
or sound level. Usually such officers are referred to be their LEO
brothers a FACs. Like the drug war, it's just about the money.
