Actually I get more compliments on the KLR than I do my Harley. The reason is that everybody and his brother has a H-D in Kansas, so they attract little attention. While great for cruising the particular kind of highways we have here (not real twisty) the paved highways are only about half the roads here. (One does NOT take belt drive off pavement!) So I got a KLR for the other half I've been missing, after getting tired of riding the same roads over & over. JOOC does anybody else who sometimes rides a cruiser or other so-called "cool" bike find they get more comments on the KLR?

Nope only a KLR and kinda looking for a "rat bike" to take out and really beat the snot outta when have the urge. But... I do ride up to HD's and hang with them going down the road every chance I get, some are cool, some do all they can to get away from me.. dont want to hurt there image or something.. Funny to see the reactions however. Dooden

Though I'm selling it, my 1990 Paris Dakar gets even more comments from passerby than even the Triumph 500 twin carb bike I was riding last winter. I also have a Bandit 1200 and an R1100RS, both of which almost never elicit a comment. OK with me, that's not why I have 'em. The KLR's straightline street performance is actually in the ballpark with an untaxed (Harlish for "EPA legal") 883. One of those might have trouble moving away from a KLR if it didn't want to.

My '97 VFR 750 gets lots of comments, mostly from women. I think they like the vibrant red color--it out-ducks a Ducati when it comes to red. Bill, the flat tummy is easy in theory: quit eating cow products, get some exercise, and do 200 crunches every night. __Arden

Don't own any other bike than the KLX, but went to a "bike night" in New Orleans once with my brother in law (he was riding his HD). I parked the KLX between two HDs and was amazed at the amount of questions and suppositions (is that a Honda, Yamaha, etc?) that came my way. I guess they had never seen a big single DS bike up close before. Most people complimented me on the seat. I had just gotten it back from Rocky at Meyer Saddles, and it does look and ride great, thanks Rocky. Yeah, my "cool" bike is the KLX. just my .02 worth, Marshall in Shreveport, La '95 KLXC3 "Blackhorse" (to honor those who served)

Hmm, this a tough one. I have bought two bikes in addition to the KLR. Both are pretty cool. For a while I thought the XL600R was the coolest, but now I have that Sears/Puch split single, and it may be cooler still. The KLR was "in addition to" about 20 other bikes, and I think they're all cool, too. No Harleys, no cruisers, no Goldwings, no squidware (yet). I guess the coolest is the Jawa/Velorex combo. It's definitely the top babe magnet.
