ceebailey's windshield

Post by Robert Bedley » Sun Oct 13, 2002 2:11 am

I was just cruisin' the net this evening and came across this windshield for the KLR. I hadn't seen it listed or mentioned anywhere on the net, as far as the KLR, or any other bike, was concerned. I have purchased a windshield from Ceebailey's before. We were replacing the windshield in our '64 Cessna 172 and decided to upgrade to a thicker (3/16" vs. 1/8")windshield to help cut down on cabin noise. The plastic is very nice and well packaged for shipping (We picked ours up at the warehouse in Long Beach, CA., but it had been boxed for shipment anywhere.) Unfortuneately, we were not able to use the thicker windshield on our plane, and were forced to return it. There was no hassle from the company, just a request to try one more of their windshields to see if they could get it to fit better. The problem we had was that the thicker glass, and VERY COMPLEX bends and curves involved in a 172, (at the wing root where the leading edge meets the glass)didn't allow them to pull the glass in tight enough to fit our particular application. The whole point of this long story is that they gladly took the old one back, and gave us one 1/8" thick (stock size), which dropped right in. The 'shields for the KLR are a bit pricey IMO, but, they have 4 different sizes, 4 different tints and it is "aircraft grade", so it should hold up to sitting in the sun longer and surviving impacts with foreign objects better than the average glass. So anyway. . . here's the link. Check it out, thought you guys and gals would like to know that there is one more manufacturer out there. . . RB http://www.ceebaileys.com/kawasaki/kawaklr650.html .
