tip needed, loosen back wheel?

Post by Eduardo » Wed Oct 09, 2002 6:56 pm

In my buddy's XR and my Fazer the front sprocket just comes out with the chain and then you can replace it. How it it done in our KLRs Do we HAVE TO loosen the back wheel to put enough slack on the chain to clear the srocket for removal, or is there an easier way? (I do not have (or can't find) a master link to cut the chain) By the way, the buddy sitting on bike facing the wall has to be the best way to loosen the sprocket nut. Thanks for that tip. Cheers. Eduardo.

Yup sounds like you need a cutting torch to take the old one off and to break the new one. Bit of a pain to try and weld a new one back together though! Just joking;-) Sorry the smart ass in me got lose for a bit,SORRY. Russell

If anyone is looking for a KLR to take around the world, I just listed mine on the Dual Sport news classified page. It is still under warranty, and has a ton of extras and upgrades done to it. The link to the page is: http://books.dreambook.com/haycock/classifieds.html Thanks for the bandwidth. Steve Larson 01 KLR650 01 BMW 1150GS 00 Kawi VN800
