red klr 650

Post by clack44 » Thu Sep 26, 2002 8:57 pm

I picked up the most recent issue of Road Runner Motorcycle Cruising&Touring Magazine last week.In one of the articles they were riding in Germany, one of the riders was on a red KLR 650.The pictures didnt show alot of detail but I did notice that the fairing around the radiator was shaped different than the current KLR.Is this a European style only?

Hey. tonight i looked at another KLR..90' Tengai model with 27 thousand km on it. The bike looked decent and was somewhat taken care off and never offroaded, but the engine made a weird on and off knocking sound when warming up and just wasnt nice and tight like i'd expect a 27th km water cooled motor to be( in fact sounded a lot worse than either of the big DR's i looked at before with a bit more mileage) and the clutch was definately on the way. dang. actually seemed like a very neat bike.....like the honda Dominator and suzuki freewind and dr650 dakar.....i still think the DR is a better bike in most ways(power, handling, offroad) but klr looks cooler and has more stuff availible. we'll see which i find first.

Now why in the hell can't they put one of those crash/bash tubes/plate on the US version? Would it really cost that much more than the plastic sh!t they make us replace? millerized
